I stumbled upon a blog post sharing an Ironman Philippines recap. It’s in German, and I read it via the browser’s translation. The author is also an entrepreneur and does triathlons. He blogs about his experiences on his cool domain, IronJohn.de. I enjoyed reading about his Ironman journey through more entries. He’s humble and also talented. I’d love to be able to write about my IM experience in a way that is similar to his.

I decided to message him on IG and thank him for sharing his stories, which definitely inspired me. He wrote back! He has another blog, which he has jointly done with his coach. It’s interesting that he only writes in German. I’d love to read one of his blog posts in German one day.

He co-authored a podcast called Endurance World with his coach, but it’s in German. Can I listen to this German podcast in English? I think Spotify worked on this feature. It’s limited to a few podcasts for now, but one day: https://spoti.fi/VoiceTranslation

John told me that he still has a patellar tendon injury, hence doing 70.3 instead of the full distance this coming June 9, 2024. I feel a sense of sadness because I remember he mentioned this injury at passing in another post of his about smashing a 10:30 target for an Ironman long distance. In another post, John wrote about not yet achieving the sub-10:30 goal, but it’s the journey that counts. I look forward to identifying him in Subic this coming June for a photo! I’ll post about what happens in this blog.

Through John’s blog, I also learned that the “How Bad Do You Want it? Mastering the Psychology of Mind over Muscle” book helped John regain confidence, and I instantly added it to my list. That book helped him gain self-confidence. I’ll keep that in mind next: Mind over Muscle.

So there it is. I messaged John, a writer whose writing I enjoyed. Thanks to reading his work, I envision future topics. I’ll definitely have an Ironman Philippines 2024 Recap!

A few people, including John, have commented they liked the term Endurepreneur. Let’s build something on top of it!
