Thank Goodness it’s Friday. Somehow, I started feeling lazy yesterday, and I am looking forward to the weekend.
Why do I feel uncreative and lazy? Perhaps it’s due to talking time. Yesterday afternoon, I had four one-hour meetings, all 1-1s. In the evening, a partner was late to my call, and I ended up leaving after 11 minutes instead of sitting there multitasking while waiting. Today is another day that I ended up with even more meetings, plus a social lunch with another entrepreneur from EO Germany.
I still have blank slots on my calendar. I walked to school picking my daughter up. She fell off the swing while in the playground, which made my heart jump. One of my best engineers resigned, but I am happy for him because I can’t beat that offer: an offer from a tech unicorn with relocation to Japan. I can’t emphasize enough to young people that living overseas changes your life in ways you don’t expect, and that’s one of the best decisions in your life. The earlier you do it, the better, up to high school, maybe not sooner.
Besides meeting and talking fatigue, I am still distracted by the upcoming Ironman race, watching some YouTube videos on Ironman during break time instead of letting my brain rest. There’s also a slight guilt about not biking the entire week because I only got my bike back yesterday from the bike shop. My Favero Assioma power pedal reported on my phone that it needed to be replaced for free, so I filled in the request, resulting in the pedal being disabled. It’s not a big deal, but I must look for the replacement in the mail next week.
Race nutrition is the fourth discipline in the triathlon, and it is especially important now that I have to tackle the 140.6 distance. I just bought new energy bars to try out this weekend. Let’s see if they help cope with flavor fatigue over the 6-7-hour bike ride. I do have to eat more on the bike at intervals, but I should drink less during the run, especially avoid big sips, which make me bloated when running.
Lastly, I had a good start to the day with my second swim session with the swim coach.
